The haphazard parking of vehicles of on road leads to accidents. These include not parking a vehicle within the limits of a pedestrian crossing; wherever signs or curb markings indicate that parking is prohibited or restricted and failing to comply with the regulations.
When vehicles are parked haphazardly, they force other road user also to divert from their lanes or roads and move towards gaps and clearance available on the road. When this happens it obstructs the movement of other vehicles. In developing countries very, often one would find vehicles parked on the sides of highways, especially near vulcanizing shops. A number of trucks are usually parked near restaurants, petty shops, kiosks and near gas filling stations.
Trucks and trailers parked on highways consume much of road space meant for highway traffic and thereby hinder easy movement of traffic and also contribute to accidents This kind of indiscriminate parking: failure to use hazard lights, taillights, indicators and hazard lamps often result to accidents.
This kind of conditions are very prevalent in developing countries where laying of proper highways is still underway and traffic rules and regulations are not yet in place sufficiently.
