The indicators on vehicles are critical safety features that enable pedestrians and other road users to predict where a vehicle is likely to go in the next few seconds. A fractional difference in reaction time can make a big difference. Often it is a question a couple of feet or a couple seconds that lead to being involved in an accident or not. And in also ensuring the impact is severe or minimal.

The indicator enables pedestrians and other road users to know in which the direction the vehicle proposes to turn. This serves as sufficient caution for vehicles coming from behind or front.

Indicators can be used while overtaking as well as to allow vehicles to pass ahead. Non use of indicators while driving, result in accidents very often. This also sets of road rage and often motorists get into logger heads.

Indicators are precautionary measures. They help regulate the speed and flow of traffic. They are very useful for tuning, stopping, overtaking and parking

They are all the more useful on highways where vehicles drive at high speed. They are also very essential during the nights, as hand signals are ineffective and may go unnoticed.

Many vehicles drivers do not use the indicators thought he vehicles have such safety related features. In developing countries, it is very common to notice that trucks very rarely sport their taillights. In 9 out of 10 trucks that ply in the night, either the tail does not burn or such a gadget itself is not here.

Since drivers without proper license and on part time and trip basis drive most of these trucks, they are not bothered about accountability and responsibility. In addition, the education levels of these drivers are minimal and they cannot comprehend the inconvenience and serious dangers they pose to other road users. As they do not own the vehicles and most of the drivers of these trucks are learners on the road, they simply do not care nor have any concern.

These are some of the major reasons why accidents occur.
